EDUCATION

Bursa is home to two state universities and one foundation university. Over 80,000 higher education students are studying in a wide range of scientific fields, including faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, Education, Economics, and Administrative Sciences.

More than 70,000 students are enrolled in 127 vocational and technical secondary education institutions, 12 of which are private.

Numerous vocational training centers, such as BUTGEM, BUSMEK, Yıldırım Employment Center, and ERTEV Vocational Training Center, train qualified intermediate personnel.

R&D and INNOVATION

Bursa ranks third in Turkey with 139 R&D centers, 32 Design Centers, and patent registrations over the last five years (2019-2024), primarily in the automotive, machinery and metal, textile, and other engineering fields. The province also has two technology development zones.

INDUSTRY

Bursa stands out as one of our country's most important production centers. It boasts Turkey's first Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) and the most OIZs, currently numbering 17. It is also home to one Free Zone and four Special Industrial Zones.

Bursa has become a driving force in Turkey's automotive, machinery, metal, and textile sectors. Bursa ranks 4th in Turkey in terms of production and exports.

Bursa is home to over 1,000 foreign-funded companies, bringing together international brands and Turkey's manufacturing capabilities.

Eighteen sectoral clusters are actively operating, primarily in textiles, automotive, machinery, metal, and chemicals. Furthermore, Bursa ranks second after Istanbul with its 23 ongoing UR-GE projects.

SOCIO-CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

Bursa province is the fourth most socio-economically developed province in Turkey. As the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and home to İznik, one of the most important centers of Christianity, it holds numerous historical and cultural treasures. Along with its numerous natural wonders, including Uludağ, Lake Uluabat, and Lake İznik, it stands out with its high potential for winter and nature sports tourism, congress, thermal, health, historical, and cultural tourism.
