TEXTILES and READY-to-WEAR
The history of Bursa's textile sector dates back 1,500 years. Silk, one of the most valuable raw materials of antiquity, was first imported from China and produced outside of China in the Bursa region around 550 AD. Bursa, which continued to be a center of weaving during the Ottoman Empire, remains Turkey's textile capital today. Today, the textile sector encompasses a wide range of products, from yarn production to apparel. It is divided into sub-sectors: cotton weaving, artificial and synthetic yarn production, wool weaving, fancy yarn production, knitting and knitwear, home textiles, towels, dyeing-finishing-printing, apparel, and ready-made clothing.
Furthermore, the textile and technical textiles center of excellence established in our province with the support of our Agency supports R&D and innovation activities in this sector.
