Bursa- Among top performers in the Quality of Life Index
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality accomplished Bursa City to be included in UNESCO World Heritage List. The new stadium has received the most prestigious architecture prize in Europe. The discovery of the ancient underwater basilica in İznik was named as one of top 10 discoveries of 2014 by the Archaeological Institute of America. Bursa for the first time was nominated for the title of “European Green Capital 2017” by the European Commission.
Numbeo website is comparing 5000 cities in terms of various criterias such as population, traffic and cost. Bursa’s rank has risen from 48th to 37th in this year. Index has been created by considering criteria’s like crime rates, health care, cost and population growth. The highly valued city for this index is Canberra from Australia, Adelaide from Australia (2nd) and Zurich from Switzerland (3rd). Same website conducted the same study last year as well. Regarding to this study; İzmir’s rank has risen from 91st to 62nd; Ankara’s rank from 97th to 95th and İstanbul’s rank 106th to 102nd.
According to the website’s data; Bursa is the only city which is considered as “Highest Quality of Life” among fifty cities. In the sub-category of this index which is called “Access to house”, Bursa was ranked 12th in the world. In access to healthcare index, İzmir ranked as 2nd in the world while Bursa ranked as 13th, İstanbul 50th and Ankara 74th.
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Recep Altepe expressed that “ Results for Bursa is not a surprise and it is a big pride to be in a first 50 cities”. Due to published figures of Numbeo, Bursa is the highest quality living city in Turkey and by achieving this result, Mr. Altepe gave his special thanks to all institutions which make the necessary contribution.
