Fiat Aegea sedan will replace Linea in at least 40 countries.
Fiat Aegea sedan was revealed globally as a concept at this year’s Istanbul Motor Show. Set to replace the ageing Fiat Linea, Aegea will be officially launched in Turkey by November this year. Post that, it will be exported to as many as 40 countries, mostly in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). In all these countries, the Aegea will replace the current Linea sedan.
Featuring a modern design, the entry level family sedan is a global car which will be built at Fiat Tofas plant in Bursa, Turkey. These are the first undisguised photos of the Aegea in production ready guise.
On the inside, Fiat Aegea gets a new 5 inch colour touch screen which will be powered by Fiat’s new Uconnect system. With this system on board, it will be possible to sync your smartphone’s apps with the car. You can read messages, access music, telephony, and navigation.
The screen also acts as display to the rear parking camera and navigation system which is powered by TomTom. On offer with Fiat Aegea will be two diesel and two petrol engine options. The power output of these engines will be in the range of 95 to 120 hp. Fiat has claimed that the fuel efficiency rating of these engines will be amongst the best in class, with entry level diesel to deliver in excess of 25 kmpl. 4.5 meters long, 1.78 meters wide and 1.48 meters tall, Aegea will have enough room to accommodate five adults.
There are plans to launch the Aegea in India as well, where it will rival the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and the likes. But, India launch plans are still in talks, and yet not finalised. If the car gets a green signal for India launch, it will be manufactured at Fiat India’s plant in Ranjangaon near Pune. Expect India launch to take place by 2017.
