The machinery sector is at the center of Turkey’s industrial 4.0, with its digitalization and information technology and its goal of achieving integrated production. The machinery sector is at the forefront of sectors that will set a vision not only for Bursa but also for Turkey’s technological transformation. The contribution of Bursa machine producers is important among the firms that carry Turkey, as the sixth biggest machinery producer in Europe.
High added value comes with machine producers
The machinery sector expresses at every opportunity that positive discrimination should be made in the manufacturing sector and that the existing support for sector growth should be increased and assessed with special significance as in developed countries. Sector itself is also adding great value to the city with R&D, technology and qualified human resources investments. Therefore machinery sector demands technology midproducts to be supported by government support and incentives.
Sector also believe that their investments in science, technology and innovation, Turkey can become an independent industrial and technology country.
According to Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) data, Bursa machine producers exports 187.2 million dollars of machinery and equipments in the first 4 months of this year. This figure was 190 million dollars in the same period last year. Despite the 1.58 percent decline in the first four months of the year, the sector aims to increase its competitive edge in the global arena by raising the added value of manufacturing in both interim and final products over the coming years. It is also important to increase the added value of human resources in this sector. Among Bursa machine producers, main export markets are European Union, Russia and the USA.
