Despite the difficulties in 2016, the wheels of industry in Bursa continued. In Bursa, where investments kept on going, electricity and natural gas consumptions of Organised Industry Zones (OIZs) have increased and the number of newly established companies has increased by 5%
Bursa as ranking 2nd after Istanbul in Turkey, had export value of 12 959 million USD in 2016 by an increase of 11,26% compared to the previous year.
According to figures announced by Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the locomotive sector of the province which is automotive sector has increased its export by 19,60% from 7 billion USD to 8,4 billion USD. The export has been done mostly to EU countries and specifically to Germany. According to the registers of Bursa Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BTSO), in 2016, 3 567 firms have started business where the number of liquidated firms remained as same as previous year. Thus, the number of established firms has increased 5% compared to the number of firms in 2015.
OIZs recieved new investments
In Bursa, OIZs continued attracting investors and new investments continued non-stop.
In Bursa OSB, where 250 factories are manufacturing, the consumption of electricity, water and natural gas as well as exports continued to increase. The factories that were active between January-December of last year in Bursa OIZ, have increased their electricity consumption by 6% and utilized 1 billion 199 million kWh electricity in 2016. In Bursa OIZ, for 12 months, 13 million 334 thousand m3 water and 140 million sm3 natural gas for process and vapour have been consumed. The consumption of natural gas of Bursa OIZ in 2016 has increased by 3%. In 2016, 14 firms got permission for building a new factory or an extension with the building permits for 68 thousand m2 and 19 firms got certificate of occupancy in Bursa OIZ.
In Demirtaş OIZ (DOSAB), the last year, the consumption of electricity has increased by 3,2% to 1,1 billion kWh. Last year, İnegöl OIZ, has increased its electricity consumption by 16% and its natural gas consumption by 6% compared to the previous year.
According to Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), the last 2 years, 700 new companies started to export in the city and Bursa’s export raised to 13 billion USD by 11% increase.
