Aksam – Turkey’s national air carrier, Turkish Airlines (THY), carried 21.3 million passengers in the first 5 months of 2014, up 18 percent over the same period of the last year.
According to an announcement made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) of Borsa Istanbul, the company stated that in the January-May period, the number of domestic fliers increased by 22.7 percent while international fliers went up by 14.8 percent.
The number of landings by Turkish Airlines aircraft also rose 18 percent to 163,648 in the said period, up from 138,538 from a year earlier.
Having won the “Best Airline in Europe” award three times as judged by the world’s largest airline and airport ranking authority, Skytrax, Turkey’s flag carrier has one of the world’s most extensive flight networks with 208 international and 43 domestic routes.
